Serotonin levels can be enhanced naturally without medications that affect our natural bodily functions. Why would you want to increase Serotonin in the first place? Serotonin is an important hormone. It is necessary for our survival. The body has its own Serotonin mechanism and when it is functioning properly the body regulates Serotonin production exquisitely. However, when we eat the wrong foods, take the wrong medications and participate in the wrong activities that exquisite mechanism begin to breakdown and leads to every illness known to man. Triptophan can be thought of as a type of Serotonin. Triptophan is turned into Niacin (B3) in the body. If your body is runniing low in Niacin the body will take triptophan and turn it into Niacin instead of making Serotonin. Niacin is important for circulation and other body processes. If you have a Vitamin B3 deficiency you may end up with a Serotonin deficiency. Taking Niacin will allow Triptophan to be freed up to make Serotonin. If you want to keep you Serotonin levels up you may want to consider supplementing with Triiptophan and Niacin instead of drugs.
